Bay Fest was begun in 1991 by our current Mayor J. E. Smith as a celebration at the end of the Desert Storm conflict to recognize local citizens and other Mississippians serving in the armed forces.
BayFest is a four day festival with a wide variety of excellent musical entertainment every night, a carnival, many food and craft vendors with a large crowd in attendance every night.
On Saturday morning, there is usually a mule pull… an interesting event! Afterward, there is a continuous schedule of events for children young and old to enjoy! A few of these are a sack race, watermelon and pie eating contests, log sawing contest, tomato throw, prettiest rooster contest and many more. Monetary prizes are awarded to winners! It is a good time for all! These events have been maintained for many years, and a large crowd is on hand to either participate or cheer on participants.
We invite you all to join us for BayFest 2018, held at the beginning of June. Date is announced a few months before event.
